The independent wrestling scene is booming. The industry is perhaps, at the best it's ever been, with seemingly more content and more show-stopping talent than ever. Steven Bradley, a longtime independent wrestling fan, knows this talent stretches beyond the jaw-dropping in-ring maneuvers. With extreme gratitude for the performers, photographers, designers, and a plethora of others lending their talents to the independent wrestling scene, Steven created a project "created as a love letter to these people." Eating the Indies is a cookbook designed to bring independent wrestling fans a greater connection with their favorite wrestlers and showcase "talent on both sides of the ropes," as Steven put it. The book features over twenty recipes from some of the hottest independent stars, and interviews and biographies written by established writer, Haley Miller. Haley, who dreamed of being a published author since she began reading on her own, loves cooking and was ecstatic when Steven approached her with the idea for Eating the Indies. Together, Steven, Haley, David Machado (designer), Catherine Perez (cover creator), Camilla Lewis (recipe consultant), and wrestling stars like Billie Starkz, EFFY, Masha Slamovich, and so many more came together to create something truly special.
The book was released on Kickstarter in February. Within sixteen days, it reached its funding goal, and by the time the campaign ended, had received more funding and support than the original goal. All of the money raised went directly back to the wrestlers and the creators featured in the book. The positive response and support for the book has been overwhelming in the best way for Haley, and the money from the book, now available to purchase on Amazon, pays wrestlers and features independent wrestling in a way it was never showcased before. This was Steven's goal all along: to give back. To give back to the business, to the wrestlers, to the crew who bust their butts week in and week out to entertain. It’s all, and always will be, for the love of professional wrestling.
