BUT I REFUSE TO COUNT OUT HIROSHI TANAHASHI!!!!!
Jay White is the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Not that the championship gives any extra power, I think it gives him a hugeeeeee chip on his shoulders. Would it make sense for the World Champion to win the tournament? I don’t know, but I think White is a real possibility.
An obvious pick is Kazuchika Okada. He won last years G1, and I don’t think it’s that crazy to predict a back-to-back win for him.
Personal feelings aside, IWGP United States Champion, Will Ospreay, is on a fucking roll. He’s the favorite to win in the D Block, and I think with the year he’s had, winning the G1 just makes sense.
But I don’t really know.
The G1 returns with Night Four on July 24th!
