If Underratted Were a Person, it Would be Emilio Sparks.

If you’re a wrestling fan who’s spent time online or has listened to popular wrestling podcasts, chances are you’ve heard of Emilio Sparks. But maybe you haven’t, and that’s where I come in.

We all have our ideas of “underrated.” Which or our favorite stars and personalities actually fit the criteria and what it really means anyways, but I genuinely think more people need to know the name Emilio Sparks. If you don’t know, Sparks is a producer, podcaster extraordinaire. He spent time working for Sirius XM as well as WWE, producing many of their hit podcasts. He conducts interviews, has experience D.J-ing and is pretty much the total package. His current work includes producing arguably the best interview podcast in the game, The Sessions, as well as his own podcast, Wrassle Rap and appearances for MLW.  He also produces for Peter Rosenberg, Cipha Sounds, and Michael Chernow. As you can see, he’s got a pretty extensive resume. Success as a producer can be difficult to come by, but Sparks is a natural not only behind the microphone, but on it as well.

His podcast with Vin Forte, Wrassle Rap, drops new episodes every Monday with content ranging from interviews to recaps of the week’s wrestling shows to discussions of wrestling happenings. The episodes really soften the blow of Mondays which is very difficult to do. As mentioned he produces Renee Paquette’s podcast, The Sessions, and makes frequent appearances as guest as well. While Paquette has built an interviewing empire with

bi-weekly episodes with your favorite wrestling (and non-wrestling) stars, the episodes featuring Sparks are the hidden gems of the show- their chemistry and friendship cannot be matched by any other podcasting program out there.

His career speaks for himself, but I would be amiss if I didn’t mention another aspect that make him one of the best in the wrestling world. One of the worst parts of wrestling and being a wrestling fan is the negativity. It seems there are more thing people don’t like than things they do- wrestling fans are down right insufferable most days, the internet is a horrible place. One of the best things about Emilio is he’s just a fan. But he’s a fan who likes what he likes and doesn’t pay much attention to anything else. And his kindness? His unrelenting kindness to people he doesn’t even know in a time period where people fear each other down over opinions? It’s legendary. So add Wrassle Rap to your Monday plans. Take a minute to check out Sparks’ work-both current and past. Give props to the people behind all your favorite wrestling content and channel his energy and just be a fan for once.
