Wrestling and Faith: Introducing Laceigh.

this edition of begging wrestling Twitter to do interviews with me, I talked to the wonderful Laceigh (@kellyskclly ). This interview is definitely my favorite one so far, and I felt so inspired after talking to her. You really will not regret taking a few minutes to read this one. Thank you Laceigh for chatting with me!

Reading of the Records: The people that follow you know how much you want to wrestle, but for the people that don’t, can you talk about those dreams and when you first realized wrestling is what you want to do?

Laceigh: From the age of 3, wrestling was always something that was there, it was a constant. It had always been a thought once I was old enough to realize wrestling was something I could possibly be able to do. Kelly Kelly was the one that got me hooked, I loved her and all that she did. The moment when it all clicked for me was when she won the Diva’s title against Brie Bella in power to the people in 2011 (I’m pretty sure), I saw the woman who had me hooked win the title and that was the moment when I realized anything was possible, from then on, it was just trying to make a plan on how to accomplish this goal, I owe this dream all to Kelly Kelly.

RR: Women’s wrestling has changed and evolved so much over that time period, what does it mean to you to see this evolution taking place?

Laceigh: It means everything, I like to think of wrestling as a real life superhero story. To see women taking over in a ‘male dominated sport’ is truly something so special. These women give little boys and girls hope. Women are constantly underestimated, under-appreciated, & overlooked, so to see these strong, confident, beautiful women show the world what they can do and that they can do it better than the men is something I can’t even begin to explain. Women’s wrestling and the way it evolved makes my heart set on fire. It gives me hope. It gives me purpose.

RR: Are there any set plans to start training?

Laceigh: Yes! I’m working 3 jobs this summer to pay for wrestling school alone, I’m doing anything I possibly can to make this dream happen. I’ve been working with a friend to help me get into shape. I plan to start training at Star City Pro Wrestling School at the end of August & I’m just gonna trust the process from there.

RR: Something I’ve seen just from following you that has always inspired me is your unrelenting faith that there’s a plan for everyone and everything will work out no matter what happens. How do you keep this mindset?

Laceigh: I’m a big believer in hope and trusting the process, it’s always been something that has been there but took me awhile to realize. My mimi (grandmother) has always told me that everything happens for a reason, God always has a plan, you have to trust in yourself before you can trust in anything else. That mindset was something that I like to think I inherited from my mimi. I also take a lot of this thinking from songs & tv shows. I believe that connecting to a song or a show (even a character in a show) is not an accident. Songs from Jana Kramer, Ashley Tisdale, Taylor Swift, etc that take about believing in something better, wanting something better, or hoping for something better I genuinely understand more than anyone else probably does. Characters and tv shows teach me a lot about how it’s okay to fall down and mess up but don’t stay on the ground, pick yourself up, and try again. Something you have to fall before you can fly. I look for the little things in life, the simple things and that keeps me grounded. I try to make a positive out of a negative. Sometimes life is gonna kick you around but you have to believe that you’ll find a way to get back up.

RR: Do you have visions or ideas of how your wrestling journey is going to go?

Laceigh: Oh of course. I sometimes will practice interviews and promos in the mirror. I like to think that I’ll be the face of whatever company I sign with. I’m one in a million and that’s how my journey will go, it’ll be one in a million. I don’t wanna be the next sasha banks, becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, mandy rose, or whatever. I wanna be the first me! I want to take this career path and hold onto it. I want to make history, I want to inspire the world, I want to change lives, I want to make my loved ones proud. I want to start companies about things I’m passionate about, I would love to write a book and start a podcast. I have so many visions about where I want this journey to take me, but plans don’t always work out the way you want them too. I know what I wanna do and I have to trust in the universe and hope it’ll lead me to where I wanna be.

RR: Last question, what are your biggest dream matches?

Laceigh: Omg, I have a whole list in my notebook of matches I’d love to have someday. My ultimate dream match would be Me vs Kelly Kelly vs Sasha Banks in a triple threat in the main event of wrestlemania. I LOVE to dream big. I would absolutely love to fight for the tag titles with Liv (@totaIbellas) against the Bella Twins that would be an absolute dream. Tagging with the Miz would be so cool, he’s genuinely the only male wrestler that I enjoy watching. I would love to be a part of and win a royal rumble. I have so many dreams matches and interactions I would love to have but the one I really hope I can make happen is a match against Kelly Kelly, she’s been a big supporter of this dream of mine and a big reason I believe in myself so the only way I can think of to thank her would be to wrestle her.
